Our Disney Cruise: Why We Loved Sailing from the UK

This summer, we swapped airport queues for a Disney cruise from the UK—and honestly, it’s our new favourite way to holiday. If you’re someone who loves the ease of all-inclusive resorts and wants to keep the kids entertained while sneaking in some much-needed relaxation, this might just be the perfect getaway for you too.
No-Fly, No-Fuss
The best part? No planes involved! We simply packed the car (no baggage limits—hallelujah!), drove to the port, and boarded the ship. No airport stress, no long-haul flights, just smooth sailing—literally.
Non-Stop Entertainment for the Kids
Disney’s kids’ clubs are next level. They’re included in the cost of your cruise for children aged 3 and above, and there’s no need to pre-book—you just drop them off and pick them up whenever suits you. Our kids absolutely loved it, and it gave us the chance to enjoy some proper grown-up time. One evening, we had drinks in a champagne bar, listening to live piano music, while the kids were happily entertained. Bliss!
Actually Relaxed
That brings me to one of the best parts—adults-only areas. Whether it’s the quiet pool, a relaxing drink at the bar, or a meal at Palo (highly recommend for a treat!), we had so many opportunities to unwind.
All-Inclusive Goodness
If you’re a fan of all-inclusive holidays, you’ll feel right at home. All your meals are included, from themed restaurants to buffets and even poolside ice cream cones (yes, they’re free—and we had more than our fair share!). Room service is also free—you just tip the server—and it was such a treat for lazy mornings or late-night snacks.
The rotational dining was a real highlight. You move to a different restaurant each night, but your servers stay with you. By the second night, ours had drinks ready before we even sat down and knew our fussy kids only wanted the white bread rolls—so they always brought extra straight away. It’s those little touches that make Disney so special.
Shows, Movies, and More
Evenings on the ship were magical. The Broadway-quality shows blew us away, and there was always something happening, from live music and deck parties to watching Disney films under the stars.
The Extras
While so much is included, there are a few extras worth mentioning. Alcohol isn’t included, and there are premium dining options like Palo if you want to treat yourself. Excursions at ports and gratuities for the crew are additional too, but everything is laid out clearly, so it’s easy to budget ahead.
First-Time Cruisers: I’ve Got You Covered
If you’ve never cruised before, it can feel overwhelming trying to understand what’s included, what extras you might need, and how to prepare for your trip. That’s where I come in! I’ll navigate booking your Disney cruise for you, from choosing the best rooms in the best locations to knowing what and when to pre-book, like dining experiences or character meet-and-greets.
I also have loads of guides and tips to share, so you can make the most of your time onboard and avoid any surprises. Whether it’s your first cruise or you’re a seasoned traveller, having someone to guide you through the process can make all the difference.
Why We’ll Be Back
For us, it was the perfect mix of family time and grown-up relaxation. The kids were constantly entertained, we got to unwind, and everything felt easy and stress-free. If you love all-inclusive holidays but fancy something a bit different (without giving up your creature comforts), I’d 100% recommend a Disney cruise.
